Who's Who

My name is Janet and I run Rainbow Lodge with my staff, who are Mr Lei, Yaa, Darut, Saron and Saren.

Mr Lei is our grounds manager and trek guide. He used to work in Botum Sakor national park as a ranger and has 5 years experience of work in the jungle. He asked to join the team at Rainbow Lodge as being a ranger is difficult, hazardous and he had recently had a new baby son.

Mr Lei’s English is improving all the time at Rainbow Lodge, he enjoys interacting with customers and is keen to point out things of interest in the jungle, he will even pull leeches off for you too!

Mr Lei is married with 3 sons, Jethar (15) Methar (12) and Satera (18 months), the youngest 2 live at Rainbow Lodge. His wife Yaa also works at Rainbow Lodge, she had never had a job before.

Yaa is our laundry and cleaning lady, on occasions she also helps with the cooking as well as being a full time mum!

Darut (brother of Yaa) is a strong and athletic young man with a friendly smile. He does many of our boat trips and helps out in many ways around Rainbow Lodge.

Saron is our cook, she not only creates wonderful Khmer cooking but is learning to cook western style food and has learnt a lot about presentation too.

Saren (sister of Saron) is our assistent cook. With little formal education and no previous employment, Saren has delighted many with her good humour and giggles, and is learing something new everyday.

From barely speaking any English, Saron now has full conversations with customers, her laugh is infectious.
